I love that Portugal is such an underrated summer destination. The beauty of the cliffs, caves and beaches are breath taking. The surfing is an added bonus! I stayed in Praia Arrifana, but there are so many gorgeous beaches just a short drive away. My favorite was Praia da Marinha, as you saw in my previous post.
Every morning we came to this place for coffee and portuguese nut cake. It was conveniently located across from the surf shop, Sunset, in Arrifana. I especially love the blue and white tiles on the tables and chairs.

What’s summer time without some beach and sun?! I recently spent some time in Portugal with my sister and her family. Portugal had always been on my list of places to visit and I’m happy to report that the beauty of the coast exceeded way beyond my expectations.

Right now I’m in Milan, Italy for the Micam shoe event – a whirlwind 4 days of meeting with vendors, customers and exhibitors in the footwear industry. While I love connecting with my customers and getting their feedback, I also love to get out and enjoy this beautiful city as much as I can!
One of my favorite shops in Milan is 10 Corso Como. Their collections are impeccably curated with my favorite designers but I also love discovering new ones who I haven’t heard of yet. I can always count on finding a handful of strong and bold jewelry to salivate over.
However, the real hidden gem is the 10 Corso Como outlet. It’s a little difficult to find but once there, I always score plenty of amazing pieces at a good price: Rick Owens leather jackets, Alaia shoes, Margiela coats and unusual sunglasses.
My restaurant highlights: Ribot, which is a charming little place by a horseracing track. I highly recommend sharing the Antipasto for two and the T-Bone Steak Fiorentino.
My other favorite restaurant is Da Giacomo. Here you can count on seeing a mix of fashion insiders from other cosmopolitan cities, as well as beautifully dressed, sophisticated Italians. I love how this restaurant brings its guests a slice of their fresh out-of-the oven anchovy pizza and the waiters are always so helpful and charming.
No trip to Italy is complete without gelato, and in Milan, there is one place in particular that is not to be missed: Cioccolati Italiani. They are famous for their chocolate gelato, but the coffee flavor, Caffe Bourbon, did a number on me! I’ve been dreaming every night about it since my first visit, and I have to be honest: I have skipped dessert at quite a few restaurants to make a special trip to this place as my night cap.
Thanks for showing me an amazing time, Milan! I’ll be back soon – I hope! Ciao!
Last year I was lucky enough to be a part of Bravo TV’s Million Dollar Decorators. Design guru Mary McDonald completely transformed my store in SoHo from a blank canvas into a luxurious, intimate boutique filled with rich fabrics and elegant, subtle details. I’m constantly getting compliments from my customers and the design community, and I could not imagine a more perfect space for my collection.
On Friday, Mary and her team visited my store to take pictures for her upcoming book due out in 2014. She’s gathering photos of some of her favorite projects, so I was very excited she wanted to include my store!
Here are some behind-the-scenes photos of Mary rearranging the store to get the perfect shot for her book:
Hi, everyone! Welcome to my new website. My team and I have been working very hard to give you a much better brand experience on our site, and I’m thrilled to now share it with all of you!
You’ll notice that we now have a lookbook showing off our complete Fall 2013 line—and which is also fully shop-able! (Click on our video for an inside look on the making of the Fall season’s campaign.)
My favorite feature of the new site, though, is my new fun and sexy (and always fashion-forward!) blog. Each week I’ll be posting the latest happenings here at the Monika Chiang brand—everything from my design inspirations to my favorite personal things. And I’ll make it a place where everyone can share their ideas and inspirations as well.
I hope you love the new site as much as I do. And as always, please let me know what you think!
